Here is a simple, safe way to clean and descale a Keurig so it brews faster and tastes better.
What you need
1. Unplug and clear the basics
Remove the reservoir, lid, drip tray, and K cup holder. Wash those parts in warm, soapy water, rinse well, and let them dry. Wipe the machine exterior with a damp microfiber.
2. Clean the needles
Take out the K cup holder and funnel. Use a straightened paper clip to gently clear any coffee grounds from the small holes on the entrance and exit needles. Be careful, the needles are sharp. Rinse the holder and snap it back in.
3. Descale the inside
4. Flush with fresh water
Empty the reservoir, rinse it, then fill with clean water. Run brew cycles with no K cup until you no longer smell vinegar or solution. Plan on two to three full reservoirs.
5. Replace the water filter
If your model uses a charcoal water filter in the reservoir, replace it now after a quick soak per the package directions.
6. Final wipe and reassemble
Dry any moisture, reinstall parts, and you are good to brew.
